Weather app launched with data from over 2,600 monitoring stations

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration has launched a mobile application, “Thoi tiet Viet Nam KTTV,” to provide official weather information tailored to users’ locations across the country.

The app delivers location-based weather updates every 10 minutes, with forecasts extending up to 10 days.

It is built on a data platform comprising more than 2,600 monitoring stations nationwide, combined with inputs from eight weather radar stations and numerical models. Data is collected in real time, allowing rainfall to be monitored in near real time, while data on temperature, humidity, cloud cover and wind are continuously updated alongside forecasts and warnings issued by the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The application integrates multiple domestic observation data sources instead of relying only on global forecasting models, improving the detail and reliability of weather information.

The app includes features such as GPS-based weather updates, real-time data display, detailed forecasts of up to 10 days and alerts on hazardous weather conditions.

The warning system provides updates on events including thunderstorms, lightning, flash floods, landslides, tropical depressions and strong winds at sea. It also offers real-time lightning alerts and location-based warnings for flash floods and landslides, with risk levels classified by location.

Users can search for locations nationwide and save selected places to receive regular updates.

The Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration said it will continue to upgrade the application by adding warning maps and forecasting services to meet growing public demand.
