Wartime bomb discovered in Hai Phong City centre undergoes disposal
VOV.VN - Authorities in Hai Phong City have carried out an operation to remove, transport and dispose of a wartime bomb discovered at a construction site in the city centre.
The bomb was discovered on September 3 during foundation excavation for a house at 96 Cau Dat Street. The construction team found the suspicious object underground and reported it to local authorities.
Following an inspection, the Hai Phong City Military Command identified the object as a bomb left over from the war and drew up a plan to remove, transport and dispose of it.
To ensure public safety during the operation, a section of Cau Dat Street was closed to pedestrians and vehicles from 6am to 11am on September 4, enabling sappers to carry out their task.
The type, size and other technical specifications of the bomb have not yet been disclosed.
Cau Dat Street is one of the busy commercial streets in central Hai Phong, with numerous shops selling jewellery, clothing, confectionery and other consumer goods.
According to the Le Chan Ward People’s Committee, the bomb was left over from the war against US imperialism.
