Vietnam’s fixed broadband internet speed ranks 13th worldwide
VOV.VN - Vietnam has made great strides in fixed broadband internet speed, placing the country among the fastest globally, and surpassing many developed nations, according to Ookla, a leading US company in measuring and evaluating network connectivity.

The company, which describes itself as a "global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights," reported that in July, Vietnam ranked 13th worldwide for fixed broadband speed, moving up six positions compared to the same period last year. The country’s average fixed broadband download speed reached 250.45 Mbps.
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam’s fixed broadband speed trails Singapore, which ranks first globally at 386.96 Mbps, and Thailand, in 10th place at 256.15 Mbps. Nevertheless, Vietnam surpasses several developed countries, including Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, and China.
For mobile internet, th nation ranks 18th globally and third in Southeast Asia, with an average mobile download speed of 151.69 Mbps. The United Arab Emirates leads globally with 584.97 Mbps.
Vietnam currently has six major submarine cable systems-AAG, IA, AAE-1, APG, ADC, and SJC2- with a combined design capacity of 80 Tbps. In August, the state-run telecom group VNPT launched the VSTN international optical cable line crossing five countries, marking the nation’s first fully domestically-funded international cable project.
In the first half of this year, fixed broadband subscriptions reached 24.4 per 100 people, up 3.9% from the previous period. Of these, 85.3% of households use fiber-optic cables, exceeding the global average of 60%.
