Vietnamese student team makes history at VEX Robotics Open Asia Signature Event
VOV.VN - For the first time since Vietnam began participating in the competition, a Vietnamese student team has captured the top honor at the VEX Robotics Open Asia Signature Event, marking a historic milestone for the country’s robotics movement.
Team 62024P from the Panda Robotics Club in Ho Chi Minh City secured three awards in the High School division, officially earning qualification for the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026 in the United States. The team consists of seven students from different secondary schools, guided by coaches Vo Le Phuc Hau and Tran Thanh Nguyen.
Most notably, Team 62024P won the Excellence Award, the highest distinction within the VEX Robotics competition system, which recognizes comprehensive excellence in robot design, programming, match strategy, teamwork and technical presentation. This marks the first time a Vietnamese team has received this prestigious award at the Asia Open level.
In addition, the team placed third in the Robot Skills Challenge and reached the Division Tournament Semifinals, demonstrating strong performance across both individual technical skills and alliance-based competition.
With this result, Team 62024P became the first Vietnamese team to qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship through the Asia Open Signature Event, earning a place at the world’s largest robotics competition.
VEX Robotics is one of the most widely used educational robotics programs globally. The VEX Robotics World Championship was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2018 as the largest robotics competition in the world and is scheduled to take place in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2026.
