Vietnamese, Chinese youth deepen exchanges through “Red Journey”

VOV.VN - A forum titled “Chinese and Vietnamese Youth Inheriting the Red Gene” took place on March 30 at Hebei Normal University in China, as part of the “Red Journey: Study and Research Programme for Vietnamese Youth-Camp on the Light of Ideals,” held from March 25 to April 1 in Yunnan and Hebei.

The event, organised by the Communist Youth League of China, attracted students from eight Vietnamese universities, with a focus on education on revolutionary traditions and exchanges between young people of the two countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dong He, Director of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Youth League of China, welcomed the Vietnamese participants and said the foundation of China-Vietnam relations lies in the people, with youth playing a key role in carrying this forward.

She recalled that Party General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping attended the launch of the “Red Journey: Youth Study and Research Programme” in Hanoi in April 2025.

The initiative aims to strengthen education on revolutionary traditions and the “red gene” between the two Parties and countries on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Since its launch, the two sides have organised eight research camps, drawing Vietnamese youth from various fields.

As part of the programme, participants also visited President Ho Chi Minh’s residence in Kunming, gaining a clearer understanding of shared ideals between the two nations.

Li Weijun, Vice Mayor of Shijiazhuang, said the city maintains friendly ties with several Vietnamese localities across economic and social fields.

He described study and exchange activities as a starting point for building trust, boosting cooperation and strengthening connections between young people of the two countries.

Luu Van Quyet, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said the “red gene” is not only the inheritance of historical knowledge but also the continuation of core values of revolutionary thought and dedication.

Youth, he said, are the future of the country and serve as a bridge that helps deepen understanding, build trust and support the development of ties between the two nations.

On the sidelines of the forum, students from both countries shared their experiences from study visits and exchanges at universities and research institutions in China.

They said the activities helped broaden their understanding, motivate their studies and raise awareness of the role of youth in maintaining and developing Vietnam-China relations.

Earlier, the delegation participated in activities including visits to President Ho Chi Minh’s residence in Kunming, thematic discussions on youth affairs, and exchanges with students from Chinese universities such as Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Hebei University of Technology and Hebei University of Chinese Medicine.
