Vietnam suspends flights to Taiwan (China) due to Haikui typhoon

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines has adjusted its schedule for flights from Vietnam to Taiwan (China) and vice versa on September 3-4 due to the impact of Haikui typhoon.

A Vietnam Airlines representative said the national flag carrier has decided to cancel flight VN586 from Hanoi to Kaohsiung and flight VN580 from Ho Chi Minh City to Kaohsiung on September 3.

The carrier has also delayed departure time by 13 hours for flights VN578 between Hanoi and Taipei and VN570 between Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei on September 3 to land in Taipei after 10:00 on September 4 (local time).

On September 4, Vietnam Airlines is about to cancel flight VN587 from Kaohsiung to Hanoi, and flight VN581 from Kaohsiung to Ho Chi Minh City. It will also delay departure time by four hours for flight VN579 from Taipei to Hanoi, and flight VN571 from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh City.

Some domestic flights in Vietnam may be affected due to late arrivals of the aircraft.

Haikui is forecast to gain strength after typhoon Saola dissipates on September 3. The typhoon is heading for Taitung and is expected to make landfall late on September 3. Several localities in Taiwan announced closures of offices and schools on September 3 due to the impact of the new typhoon.
