Vietnam strengthens urban development cooperation with China, Malaysia

VOV.VN - A delegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Construction, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van, held talks with counterparts in China and Malaysia from September 14 to 17 to bolster substantive cooperation in construction and urban development.

In Nanning, Guangxi province, Deputy Minister Van met with Qin Haixiang, China’s Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, on the sidelines of the 2025 ASEAN-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction.

The two sides reviewed recent cooperation outcomes, discussed new development orientations, and agreed to establish a new cooperation mechanism focused on technology-driven urban planning, upgrading construction standards, mobilizing private resources for infrastructure, and joint training programs.

The Chinese side introduced its “four goods” development model-good housing, good apartments, good cities, and good communities-based on digitalization and modern technology.

The delegation also worked with the Guangxi Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, exchanging practical experience in urban renovation, social housing, smart cities, and digital applications. Guangxi enterprises have been increasingly active in Vietnam’s construction projects.

In Malaysia, Deputy Minister Van met with Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming. Both sides consented to accelerate the signing of a memorandum of understanding on housing cooperation. The Malaysian side also suggested opening a direct flight between the two countries to facilitate trade and investment in the time to come.
