Vietnam reports zero new local infections, recoveries reach 1,020

VOV.VN - The nation has entered the 33rd day in a row without detecting any fresh cases of local transmission, keeping the national tally at 1,096, the Ministry of Health reported on October 5.

Of the confirmed patients, 691 are cases of domestic transmission, and 405 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival so there is no possibility of spreading the virus to the community.

So far, 1,020 patients have been declared free from the disease and there are now no patients in critical conditions.
The fatality count due to COVID-19 stays at 35, most of them elderly people with serious underlying health issues.

As many as 16,360 people having close contacts with COVID-19 patients or returning to Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being put into isolation across the nation, including 263 at hospitals, and 16,100 at concentrated quarantine establishments, and at home.
