COVID-19: A returnee from Japan brings national tally to 1,096

VOV.VN - A Vietnamese returnee from Japan has been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2, raising the country’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,096, the Ministry of Health reported on October 2.

The female patient, 24, took flight VN311 from Tokyo (Japan) to Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Vietnam) on September 30. She was quarantined as soon as she landed at the airport.

The woman tested positive on October 2 and is now receiving treatment at the centrally-run general hospital in Quang Nam province, central Vietnam.

October 2 marked the 30th consecutive day that no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases have been detected in Vietnam.

To date 1,020 out of a total of 1,096 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease. The death toll caused by COVID-19 and related diseases is 35.

The remaining 41 patients are in stable health condition, with 7 of them having tested negative for the virus.
