Vietnam records one imported case from Australia, 1,099 in total

VOV.VN - The nation’s infection tally has climbed to 1,099 after one imported case from Australia was confirmed to contract the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Ministry of Health reported on October 7.

The new patient is a 28-year-old-woman returning from Australia on flight QH89 which landed at Can Tho airport in Can Tho city on September 23. She was isolated at an concentrated quarantine area of Can Tho city right upon arrival. Her second test result came back positive for SARS-CoV-2 on October 5 at the Center for Disease Control in Can Tho City.

The patient is currently put into isolation to receive treatment at Can Tho City Hospital of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

Among the total number of coronavirus infections, 691 are locally-transmitted cases, 408 are imported into the country which were immediately placed in quarantine upon entry.

The overall number of infections related to Da Nang, the country’s most serious COVID-19 outbreak hotspot since July 25 stays at 551.

As many as 1,023 patients were declared free from the novel coronavirus while the deal toll remains unchanged at 35.

Among the remaining patients in treatment, 18 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 virus at least one or several times.

More than 14,550 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are under health monitoring throughout the country.
