Vietnam receives back 177 individuals involved in online scams from Cambodia
VOV.VN - The Border Guard Command of Tay Ninh province has received 177 Vietnamese citizens handed over by the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, who were involved in illegal labour and residence in Cambodia.
The hand-over ceremony was held at Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh province, that borders Cambodia, on February 6.
Through information verification, the border guard force found that two individuals were on a wanted list and they were immediately handed over to Ho Chi Minh City police for further investigation and legal processing.
Among the individuals, 129 had exited Vietnam illegally, and 176 individuals had worked for fraudulent companies in a Building near Bavet border gate, Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province. They had engaged in online scams such as gambling apps, investment apps, dating apps, and stock investment apps.
The Criminal Police Division of Tay Ninh province Police is working with the Border Guard and district-level police to summon 30 suspects for investigation regarding fraud and human trafficking.
Further investigations are underway.
14 Vietnamese citizens returning from Cambodia involved in online fraud
Authorities at the Moc Bai international border gate have identified 14 among 410 Vietnamese citizens returning from Cambodia suspected of involvement in online fraud, said the Tay Ninh provincial Border Guard Command on December 13.
