An Giang border guard force seizes 22 kg of drugs smuggled from Cambodia
VOV.VN - Border guards operating in the southern province of An Giang said on January 3 that they had successfully busted a gang trafficking 22 kg of drugs from Cambodia into the nation.
The police caught 35-year-old Trinh Van Thong red-handed, a resident of Cho Moi district, while he was driving a motorcycle carrying a yellow styrofoam box containing 22 sealed plastic bags filled with a white crystalline substance, suspected to be drugs.
According to the forensic examination results, the drugs included over 20 kg of methamphetamine and two kg of ketamine.
Thong confessed that he had been hired by a Cambodian man, whose nickname was “Anh Hai”, to transport the drugs into the country for VND200 million.
Once arrested, he was then handed over to the provincial criminal investigation agency for further investigation.
