Vietnam, Poland look to broader cooperation in education and sci-tech
VOV.VN - On November 29, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam hosted a reception for his Polish counterpart Jaroslaw Gowin, who is also Poland’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, as part of the Vietnam state visit by Polish President Andrzei Duda from November 27-30.
Deputy PM Dam emphasized that education, science, and technology have been areas of traditional cooperation between the two nations since 1960. Thousands of Vietnamese students and post graduates ,who have been trained in Poland have made brainpower and effort contributions to national development and construction process.
Deputy PM Dam said deeper international integration trend and robust growth of science and technology have seen as a catalyst for both sides to step up cooperation in education, science, and technology.
The two Deputy PMs appreciated the signing of a tertiary education cooperation agreement with the increase in scholarships to the two countries’ students and graduates to 20 per year. In addition, both sides will promote the exchange of students in areas of Poland’s strength and Vietnam’s demand such as technology, mining-geology, agriculture, and the food industry.
Along with the signing of a letter of intent on opening Polish language training courses between the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Hanoi University, Deputy PM Dam expressed hope that both sides will soon successfully negotiate and sign an agreement on recognizing equivalent degrees to facilitate enrollment and application procedures of students and graduates from both nations.
The two officials suggested relevant ministries and agencies should make thorough preparations for the next session of the Vietnam-Poland Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in 2018.
