Vietnam Navy ship departs for ASEAN–US maritime exercise
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese naval vessel left the port of Brigade 171 on December 4 to participate in the second ASEAN–US maritime exercise, scheduled for December 9–13, in Indonesia.
The delegation, aboard Ship 09 of Brigade 171, will join activities hosted at Batam Island, Indonesia, including an opening ceremony, scenario-based workshops, expert discussions, cultural exchanges and sports events.
During the at-sea phase, Ship 09 and participating forces will conduct joint drills such as aerial formation photography, medical evacuation, search and rescue, replenishment at sea, damage control, night formation manoeuvres and customary naval greetings at sea.
Speaking at the send-off ceremony, Colonel Trieu Thanh Tung, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 2 expressed confidence that the Vietnamese delegation would fulfil its assignment. He expected that the exercise would strengthen coordination in addressing common maritime security challenges and enhance cooperation, mutual understanding and trust among navies for regional and global stability.
