Frigate Tran Hung Dao departs for visits to China, Japan, RoK
VOV.VN - A delegation from the Vietnam People’s Navy, led by Colonel Nguyen Vinh Nam, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4, embarked on Missile Frigate 015 - Tran Hung Dao from Cam Ranh Naval Base, Khanh Hoa province, for official visits to China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to pay courtesy visits to local authorities and participate in joint sea exercises with the Chinese Navy in Qingdao.
The officers and sailors of Vietnam will also meet local leaders and conduct joint exercises on maneuvers and communications with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in Kure.
In the Republic of Korea, they will hold courtesy visits and engage in exchange activities with the Korean Navy in Busan.
The mission is part of the Vietnam People’s Navy’s 2025 defence diplomacy plan, aiming to strengthen relations, mutual understanding, trust, and cooperation with the navies of these countries.
Covering more than 5,000 nautical miles round trip, the journey also serves as an opportunity for officers and sailors to train in long-range sea navigation, improve command skills, master weapons and equipment, and handle real-world maritime situations, demonstrating the operational capability of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
