Vietnam launches Action Month for Children 2025

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the northern midland province of Phu Tho launched the Action Month for Children 2025 themed “Prioritizing Resources to Achieve Goals for Children,” in Phu Tho on May 31.

In her speech, Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasised that that children are ‘the young shoots of the country and represent the country’s future. Over the years, she said, Vietnam has continually improved its legal and policy framework for children, enhanced education and healthcare services, significantly reduced child mortality and malnutrition, and successfully implemented child-friendly healthcare models, periodic check-ups, and mental health consultations.

However, she also acknowledged ongoing challenges, including drowning incidents, school violence, child abuse, especially in disadvantaged and ethnic minority areas. To fulfill the goals set for children in 2025, the Minister stressed that success only comes with the prioritisation and the mobilisation of comprehensive, effective, and sustainable resources, with the engagement of people from all social strata.

She urged ministries, sectors, and localities to invest in and complete current child-focused programmes and develop a long-term vision; strengthen grassroots-level healthcare systems, especially in remote areas; and educate young generations to preserve cultural identity and access global knowledge.

She underlined the need to promote communication and life skills training to protect children from abuse and accidents; improve monitoring and child management using technology; and mobilize social resources for essential child-related infrastructure.

The Minister reaffirmed the health sector’s commitment to interdisciplinary cooperation, prioritising both physical and mental wellbeing for children.

At the ceremony, student Nguyen Tuan Minh, representing children nationwide, expressed gratitude to leaders, parents, and teachers for their care. He shared how he and his peers felt fortunate to grow up in a loving environment.

“Love must be shown through actions, by sharing with friends in need, studying hard, and living responsibly. I will try to become a good citizen and contribute to the nation’s development, just as the Health Minister encouraged in her speech," said Minh.

The launch of the Action Month for Children 2025 in Phu Tho serves as both a call to social responsibility and a reminder that investing in children today is a foundation for the sustainable development of the country tomorrow.
