Vice State President awards Labour Order to Olympiad winners
VOV.VN - Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has awarded the Labour Order to students who won prizes at international Olympiads and science-technology competitions in 2025.
At the award ceremony in Hanoi on December 12, the Vice President handed over the second-class Labour Order to 7 students, and the third-class Labour Order to 12 students with outstanding achievements at international Olympiads.
Meanwhile, five students who showed excellent performance at international Olympiads and sci-tech research examinations in 2025 were presented with the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit.
Addressing the ceremony, the Vice President praised the remarkable achievements of the education sector and students in the 2025 International Olympiads and science-technology competitions.
These successes vividly demonstrate the effectiveness of the Party and State's ongoing educational reform policies, which prioritize people, leverage intellect as the driving force, and align the education sector with the country's sustainable development goals, she said.
The Vice President also called on the education and training sector to continue developing clear, practical plans with well-defined roadmaps and solutions to implement Party and State policies. She emphasised the need to nurture future talents who are in tune with national development priorities and global trends.
Vietnam sent seven delegations with 37 students to regional and international Olympiads this year. The students bagged 13 golds, 16 silvers, 8 bronzes, an increase of one gold, and one silver compared to the previous year.
The Vietnamese delegation continued to rank in Top 10 countries and territories with the highest score at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), and the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO).
In particular, all six Vietnamese students won medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, securing 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals. Others brought home 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), marking a significant improvement compared to 2024.
This year marked the first time the Vietnamese delegation had won 2 second prizes, 1 third prize, 3 fourth prizes, and 4 special prizes at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the United States. This has become the highest result for Vietnamese students over the past 13 years.
