Vietnamese student earns two consecutive golds at International Mathematical Olympiad

VOV.VN - Doan Tuan Nghia, a 6th-grade student at Vo Thi Sau Secondary School in Hai Phong, triumphed over contestants from 30 countries to claim a gold medal at the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) with an impressive score of 135/150, the contest’s organizers announced on September 5.

To secure victory, Nghia successfully passed multiple rigorous national-level selection rounds.

At HKIMO, participants completed a 30-question multiple-choice exam covering Logical Reasoning, Arithmetic/Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, and Combinatorics. Each question was worth 5 points, with no penalty for incorrect answers, for a maximum of 150 points, under a 120-minute time limit. The test was conducted in English.

Earlier, Nghia also won gold in the final round of the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad 2025. Thanks to these outstanding achievements, he has earned a place in the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO) Final, scheduled for January 2026 in Shenzhen, China.
