Typhoon Yinxing gains force, heads for East Sea
VOV.VN - Typhoon Yinxing intensified further early on November 7, with winds gusting between 167-183 kmh, and it is expected to move into the East Sea by early morning on November 8, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Yinxing formed over the Philippines on November 4 and has since kept gaining strength. It has intensified beyond previous forecasts, now nearing super typhoon strength, packing winds of 167-183 kmh. This is a stronger intensity than earlier predictions, which had anticipated a peak of 150-166 kmh before the typhoon enters the East Sea.
At 07a.m. on November 7, Yinxing was swirling around the north-eastern part of the Philippines’ Luzon island, moving west-northwest. It is anticipated to enter the East Sea on November 8, becoming the seventh storm in the region of the year.
In the next 72 to 120 hours, the typhoon is likely to change its course and lose its strength a bit.
When it moves into the East Sea, it is expected to affect the northern parts of Vietnam, particularly near the Paracel Islands, and could reach the island of Hainan in China.
Meteorologists are continuing to monitor its path, as it is expected to make landfall or impact the region in the coming days. Local authorities are urging residents to stay informed about the latest updates.
