Two whales spotted hunting off Phu Yen coast
VOV.VN - Two large whales were spotted in the waters of An Ninh Dong commune in the central coastal province of Phu Yen on August 3.
The two whales were seen diving deep and coming up to grab a school of small fish in the waters, said Ngo Van Duy, a local fisherman who captured the scene on a fishing vessel.
Duy noted that the two whales were of the same size, stretching over 10 metres long, swimming about two nautical miles from Ganh Da Dia (The Sea Cliff of Stone Plates) which is the most popular destination of the province.
Learning about the news, authorities requested that fishermen protect the whales and keep a safe distance from them.
Local fishermen say that the whales appearing along the coast will bring good luck to them all year round. This also shows that the marine environment in the area is quite good.
Earlier, a resident in the province’s Tuy An district also saw two whales in the waters of Mai Nha Island and used a drone to take photos of them.
