Two Vietnamese universities make world’s top 300 for public health
VOV.VN - Hanoi Medical University and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City have made the world’s top 300 for public health in the 2026 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).
They were among Vietnamese institutions featured on GRAS 2026 released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy on September 15. Six other institutions were Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Duy Tan University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam National University of Agriculture.
The rankings cover around 2,000 universities from 96 countries and territories across 57 subjects in five broad fields comprising natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.
Vietnamese institutions recorded 18 entries across 11 subjects, with engineering accounting for the largest number. The highest-ranked Vietnamese entry was Finance at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, which placed in the 101–150 range globally.
By contrast, no Vietnamese university was ranked in natural sciences this year for the first time in several years, after Duy Tan University and Ton Duc Thang University dropped out of the mathematics and earth sciences rankings. Overall, nine Vietnamese subjects dropped out of GRAS 2026.
GRAS evaluates universities by individual academic subjects rather than producing a single overall ranking. Its methodology uses indicators covering areas such as world-class faculty, research output, high-quality research, research impact and international collaboration.
