Two Indian tourists rescued after being swept away off Da Nang beach
VOV.VN - Two Indian tourists have been rescued by lifeguards after being swept away by strong waves while swimming outside a designated safe zone at a beach in Da Nang city, central Vietnam.
According to the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and beaches of Da Nang, the incident occurred at Tan Tra Beach on April 27.
A lifeguard spotted a group of five Indian visitors walking along the shore, before two men entered the sea beyond the buoyed safety area and were carried offshore by strong waves. He immediately swam out with a flotation device, reached the exhausted and panicked tourists, and brought them safely back to shore.
The two were later stabilised and advised to rest before returning to their hotel.
Local authorities have urged beachgoers to strictly follow lifeguards’ instructions and warning signals, including flags and whistles, especially during the peak beach season.
Swimmers are advised to stay within designated safe zones where lifeguards are present to ensure timely assistance in case of emergencies.
Da Nang is currently in its peak beach tourism season, attracting tens of thousands of visitors daily. Local authorities have increased safety measures, including deploying additional lifeguards and clearly marking swimming areas, to ensure public safety.
