Two foreign tourists rescued after being swept into rock crevice in Dak Lak
VOV.VN - Two foreign tourists have been rescued after being swept into a rocky crevice by strong waves while swimming at a beach in Dak Lak province, central Vietnam.
According to the provincial police, the incident occurred when a group of four foreign tourists and a tour guide were swimming at Tien Beach in Hoa Xuan commune.
Two tourists - Nicholas Theophanous, a German national, and Viled Danisl, a Danish national - were suddenly pulled by large waves into a rocky area. Due to rough sea conditions, they were both struck against rocks and sustained injuries.
Upon receiving the emergency report, officers of the Dak Lak Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Search and Rescue Police Department, were deployed to the scene to carry out the operation alongside other local forces.
Rescue efforts were hampered by high waves and hazardous terrain, but after more than one hour, rescue teams successfully reached the victims and brought them to safety before transferring them to a local medical centre for treatment.
A local leader shared that the area where the incident occurred was marked with warning signs prohibiting swimming.
