Russian tourists rescued after being trapped in Nha Trang floods

VOV.VN - Three Russian nationals were rescued after becoming stranded by rising floodwaters in Nha Trang, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Department of Khanh Hoa province reported on November 18.

Authorities received information that a group of foreigners had been isolated by floodwaters near D30 Street in Tay Nha Trang Ward, including a woman showing signs of exhaustion due to an underlying health condition.

Rescue teams, equipped with specialised vehicles, were dispatched immediately to the scene. After more than two hours of operation, all three tourists were safely evacuated and received medical checks.

According to the People’s Committee of Tay Nha Trang Ward, many areas in the locality were heavily flooded, with water levels reaching up to two meters in some places. Several low-lying residential areas were completely cut off, leaving the foreign group unable to evacuate in time.

Continuous heavy rain caused floodwaters to surge quickly, leading to widespread inundation across Tay Nha Trang Ward. Many residents were similarly trapped and called for assistance from isolated areas. The military, police, and local units were mobilised, bringing equipment to evacuate affected residents to safer locations.

In addition to flooding, Khanh Hoa also suffered severe landslides, with transportation routes disrupted. As of the morning of November 18, the province reported seven deaths, two missing persons, and 19 injuries.
