Patient 416, a 57-year-old man, continued to require a ventilator and has been connected to a extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine while receiving regular dialysis treatment.

This marks the third COVID-19 patient in Vietnam to receive ECMO therapy after patient 19 and the British pilot, known as patient 91.

The man had originally been admitted to Hospital C in the central city from July 20 to July 24 after being diagnosed with pneumonia, whilst he was later transferred to Da Nang Hospital for treatment where he was diagnosed with acute respiratory infection caused by COVID-19.

With the patient recording a fever of between 37 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius, he was prescribed sedation, vasopressors, antibiotics, and antiviral drugs.

Patient 418, a 61-year old man, is suffering from a mild fever with his health condition starting to deteriorate to the point where he is expected to be on ventilator and receive regular dialysis treatment for a long period of time.

The patient is suffering from pneumonia, in addition to underlying diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, complications relating to respiratory failure, heart failure, and acute kidney damage.
