One of the two, a 17-year-old man, lives in Quang Phu Ward of Quang Ngai province.

The man shuttled between Da Nang and Quang Ngai to take care of his brother at Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Notably, on the way back on July 17, he was joined by several people who returned from Hospital C in Da Nang– the place where the first locally transmitted case had visited.

The hospital was later locked down to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease.

Upon returning to Quang Ngai on July 22, he showed virus symptoms such as a fever, a mild cough and shortness of breath.

He tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on July 26 following the results confirmed by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute.

The man was transferred to Binh Son Medical Centre of Dung Quat Industrial Park in Quang Ngai province.

The other case is a 71-year-old woman who lives in Hai Chau district, Da Nang City. This is the locality where the second infection case was confirmed on July 26 morning.

The woman was admitted to Hospital C on July 22 after displaying symptoms of a fever and shortness of breath.

The Da Nang Centre for Diseases Control took her samples for testing on July 25, with the results coming bank positive the following day.

She is being quarantined at Hospital C for medical surveillance and treatment.

Over the past three days, four coronavirus cases have been detected in the community in Vietnam, with three living in Da Nang and one in Quang Ngai. The source of infection remains unknown.

Local authorities have taken immediate measures to curb the spread of the virus in the community. Da Nang alone announced the re-imposition of social distancing measures, starting July 26.

The Ministry of Health has dispatched three special working groups to Da Nang to assist the locality with epidemiological investigations, extensive testing and prevention work.

The Prime Minister has called on local resident to stay calm and seriously abide by medical recommendations from the Ministry of Health.
