Two cold waves to hit northern Vietnam next week, lowest temperature at 10°C

VOV.VN - Northern Vietnam is set to experience two cold waves, with the stronger one arriving on March 6, bringing rain and chilly weather to northern and north-central regions, where mountainous areas could see temperatures drop as low as 10°C, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

From now until March 6, the weather in northern Vietnam will fluctuate, shifting from warm and even hot conditions to cold and rainy.

Around March 4-5, a cold front is expected to strengthen over the north, followed by a stronger surge on March 6. This will cause a significant drop in temperatures, turning the region cold, with mountainous areas experiencing severe to extreme cold. North-central Vietnam will also turn chilly from the night of March 6.

Lang Son and Cao Bang will be the first localities affected by the cold wave. From March 7-9, temperatures will drop to 10-11°C at night, while daytime highs will range from 14-17°C.

In Hanoi, from March 7-9, nighttime temperatures will hover around 15-16°C, with daytime highs reaching 18-19°C. The narrow temperature gap between day and night will make the cold more pronounced. Rain and showers are expected in the capital on March 6-7.

Ahead of the two cold waves, northern Vietnam will undergo drizzle and high humidity, prolonging the damp conditions.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also predicts that in the next 10 days, some areas in the north could see hot weather, with temperatures exceeding 35°C before the strong cold fronts bring widespread rain and colder conditions.
