Tropical storm Kai-tak heading to East Sea
VOV.VN - The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced that tropical storm Kai-tak reached the East Sea at noon on December 18, becoming the 15th storm in the East Sea this year.
The centre said that as of 7 am, the eye of the storm was located at 10.6 degrees north and 119.6 degrees east to the north of the Philippines’ islands. The strongest winds in the eye wall of the storm are estimated at 60-75km per hour.
Over the next 24 hours, the tropical storm is forecast to move west south-west at a speed of 15km per hour. The storm will bring heavy rains, thunderstorms, and hazardous crossing conditions to the eastern waters of the East Sea.
Forecasters have warned that for the next 24-48 hours, the storm will likely gain strength as it continue its track WSW.
Around 7am on December 20, the centre of the storm will be about 110km east of Big Truong Sa (Truong Sa Lon) Island of the Truong Sa archipelago.
