EU provides financial aid for storm-hit residents

The European Commission has provided humanitarian aid worth EUR200,000 to assist people in Vietnam’s central and south central regions affected by typhoon Damrey in November, said the European Union delegation in Vietnam on December 13.

The aid, part of the assistance of the European Union to the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund under the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, helped the Vietnam Red Cross Society deliver necessities to victims.

The most affected families have received cash to meet their basic needs and maintain their livelihoods. Activities to prevent diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and typhoid fever have also been launched.

Typhoon Damrey hit Vietnam on November 4, affecting more than 4.3 million people and damaging some 303,500 houses.
