Tropical depression heads toward central Vietnam
VOV.VN - A tropical depression is heading toward central Vietnam, bringing heavy rain to the region in the coming days, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).

At 7:00 a.m. on August 28, the tropical depression was churning over the eastern waters of the northern part of the East Sea, packing winds of 39-61kmh, with gusts up to 88kph.
In the coming 24 – 72 hours, the pattern is moving west-southwest at a speed of 10–15kmh and is likely to gradually weaken.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the northeastern East Sea will experience strong winds of 39 – 61kph, gusting to 88kph, with waves reaching 2–4 meters in height and rough seas.
Vessels operating in this danger zone are at risk of thunderstorms, waterspouts, strong winds, and high waves.
Throughout the day and night of August 28, weather across the country is expected to remain unstable. Many areas will see showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain.
In addition, in the coming hours, there is a high risk of flashfloods, landslides, and ground subsidence along steep slopes and small streams in the provinces of Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Quang Ngai.
