Traffic accidents go up in all three categories
VOV.VN - There were a total of 1,869 traffic accidents nationwide from September 15 to October 14, claiming 944 lives and injuring 1,299 others, reported the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.
During the reviewed period, the number of cases was up by 108, or 6.13%, while the number of deaths and the injured increased by 31 and 61, equivalent to 3.4% and 4.93%, respectively.
Up to 382,958 violations of traffic laws were handled over the past month, with fines totaling VND660.71 billion. These figures mark rises of 21,804 cases, or 6.04%, and up by VND18 billion, or 2.81%, respectively.
Among them, traffic policemen encountered more than 77,000 cases of drunk driving, down by 11.9% from last month.
As many as 71,521 drivers across the country were penalised for overspeeding.
The police collected more than VND40 billion in penalties and revoked the driving licenses of 1,500 drivers.
