Thua Thien-Hue reburies remains of fallen soldiers repatriated from Laos

VOV.VN - The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on May 21 held a solemn ceremony to rebury 12 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the past war.

The remains were found and collected in the 2023-2024 dry season by the Search and Collection Team 192 of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Military Command.

Provincial leaders and representatives from the State and from Laos’ Salavan and Sekong provinces attended the ceremony.

They laid wreaths and offered incense to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Delivering a speech at the event, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh highlighted the service and sacrifice made by the fallen soldiers for Vietnam and Laos’ independence and freedom.

Their sacrifice demonstrated the solidarity and special friendship between the two countries, he added.

The remains were laid to rest at the martyrs' cemetery in Hue city.
