More than 21,200 sets of martyrs’ remains recovered
VOV.VN - Over 21,200 sets of remains of martyrs have been recovered since 2013, including over 3,300 sets found in Laos and nearly 7,600 sets discovered in Cambodia, helping to consolidate public confidence in Party and State policies, heard a conference held on May 15 in Hanoi.
The event was held by the national steering committee for the search, repatriation and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains (National Steering Committee 515), featuring the participation of around 3,000 delegates.
Recent years has seen the policies of organisations and individuals who engage in search and repatriation efforts carried out, while vehicles and equipment have been effectively used to facilitate the work.
Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Vo Minh Luong, deputy head of the steering committee, requested that competent ministries, sectors, and agencies continue step up the communication work in order to raise public awareness of both Party and State’s policies.
Relevant agencies and units should therefore propose that the Government issue new documents relating to policies, make estimates, allocate funding and mobilise resources in a bid to support the search and repatriation of martyrs in line with the current regulations, he said.
As part of this occasion, a total of 26 organisations and 27 individuals were honoured for their outstanding contributions made to implementing and ensuring policies for organisations and people engaging in the search and repatriation work.
