Three rare sea turtles released back into the sea off Quang Tri province

VOV.VN - Three rare sea turtles caught in fishing nets off the coast of Quang Tri province in central Vietnam were released back into the sea on May 17.

The release took place at Cua Viet Beach in Cua Viet Commune and was conducted by the Con Co Island Marine Protected Area Management Board, the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station and local fishermen.

Earlier, while fishing in waters near Con Co Island, local fisherman Bui Dinh Thuy discovered three green turtles, each weighing about 1.5 kilograms, trapped in his fishing nets.

Recognizing the turtles as rare animals in need of protection, the fisherman kept them safe and reported the case to authorities for handling in line with regulations.

After checking their health, relevant agencies and local residents released all three turtles back into the natural marine environment.
