Terrorist organisation member arrested, accused of overthrowing administration

VOV.VN - Huynh Nhat Phuong, a member of the terrorist organisation The Provisional National Government of Vietnam has been arrested on a charge of carrying out activities aimed at overthrowing the people’s administration under Article 109 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The Investigation Security Agency of Ho Chi Minh City made the decision on November 13 to initiate legal proceedings and issue a temporary detention order and search warrant against the 42-year-old man.

According to initial information, Phuong, a resident of Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, was connected with Dao Minh Quan, the self-proclaimed leader of the so-called The Provisional National Government of Vietnam based in the United States and was appointed the head of the Political Warfare Department under the Saigon - Gia Dinh Tactical Command of the terrorist organisation.

Driven by a desire for fame and profit, and a blind belief in the organization’s false promises, Phuong engaged in numerous activities aimed at undermining the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. These actions are considered dangerous to society and directly threaten the political security and social order of Vietnam in general, and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

Currently, the Investigation Security Agency is continuing to clarify Phuong’s criminal acts, while also expanding the investigation to thoroughly handle all related individuals according to legal regulations.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police are expanding their investigation into the case of “Activities aimed at overthrowing the people’s administration” carried out by Tran Van Linh and Nguyen Thi Huong under the direction of the terrorist organization The Provisional National Government of Vietnam. Their plan involved distributing leaflets with content inciting protests and disrupting security and order during the National Day celebrations on September 2. Phuong’s arrest is part of the case.

As the Provisional National Government of Vietnam is considered a terrorist and fraudulent organization, the police advise local residents to remain vigilant and not to be swayed by the temptations and recruitment efforts of Dao Minh Quan and other leaders of this organization.
