Tay Ninh holds memorial for 172 Vietnamese soldiers repatriated from Cambodia
VOV.VN - The south-western province of Tay Ninh on July 25 held a solemn memorial and re-burial ceremony for the remains of 172 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who lost their lives in Cambodia during various wartime periods.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Doan Trung Kien expressed deep respect and heartfelt gratitude to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence, reunification, and to fulfill international obligations
Their ultimate sacrifice, he emphasised, not only helped defend the homeland but also served as a testament to the enduring friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, a relationship forged through shared struggles and built on generations of mutual support.
Kien noted that, thanks to the efforts of search teams K70, K71, and K73, and with strong cooperation from both the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments and people, the remains of 8,627 martyrs have been recovered to date. During the 2024–2025 dry season alone, teams located and repatriated 474 sets of remains, though most have yet to be identified.
He affirmed that Tay Ninh would continue to strictly implement the directives of the National Steering Committee 515, enhance public awareness campaigns, encourage information sharing, and closely collaborate with the Cambodian government and people to expand search efforts and improve the effectiveness of repatriation missions.
