Binh Phuoc reburies fallen soldiers repatriated from Cambodia

VOV.VN - The southern province of Binh Phuoc solemnly held a memorial and burial ceremony for 89 sets of remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – 2025).

The remains were collected and repatriated from various locations, including 80 retrieved from Kratieand Kampong Thom provinces in Cambodia, and 9 found in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates offered flowers and incense to pay tribute to the martyrs who heroically sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom, and the noble duty of international solidarity.

Following the memorial and tribute ceremony, participants conducted the burial rites for the 89 fallen soldiers, now laid to rest in the homeland.

According to Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence, approximately 40,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during the period of international service in Cambodia from 1978 to 1989.

Thousands of remains have yet to be recovered or identified, and the efforts to search for, identify, and repatriate the remains are ongoing under the leadership of National Steering Committee 515.
