Tan Son Nhat Airport crowded as people fly back to work after Tet holiday
VOV.VN - Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 146,300 passengers on February 1, the eighth day of the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), with 472 departing flights and 473 arriving flights.
Among them were 290 international flights carrying approximately 50,000 passengers, according to the Airport Operations Center.
It is expected that the airport, the largest of its kind in Vietnam, will see a high number of flights on February 2, the last day of the nine-day Tet holiday, as many people return to Ho Chi Minh City after Tet.
During the peak period from January 14 to February 12, Tan Son Nhat is anticipated to handle more than 26,000 flights with approximately four million passengers.
With nine days off work starting from January 25, Tet drives a surge in travel as people return home for family reunions and then head back to major cities.
