Seminar seeks to develop green tourism and cultural industry in Da Lat
VOV.VN - An international seminar was held in the Central Highland resort city of Da Lat on December 18 to seek ways to develop the city’s green tourism and cultural industry.
The event, part of the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2024, brought together more than 160 delegates from Thailand and Singapore, as well as representatives from relevant ministries and agencies and travel firms.
The seminar provided an ideal venue for experts to share experience and propose specific solutions to develop Da Lat tourism in a green and sustainable direction.
Furthermore, it also contributed to gradually promoting the development of the cultural industry in association with music as a tourism product based on the city’s strengths of UNESCO Creative Music City brand.
It also helped to call for further investment in the field of tourism and music development, thereby turning the city into a high-quality tourist destination for creative cultural and artistic activities.
Addressing the event, Dang Quang Tu, chairman of Da Lat City People's Committee, emphasised that Da Lat is blessed by nature which gives the area a unique fresh climate and natural landscape with high biodiversity.
He highlighted the city’s unique historical and architectural works, saying Da Lat is also the only city with a flower festival in Vietnam.
This year, Da Lat is expected to welcome about 7.9 million visitors, up 21% compared to 2023, including 540,000 international arrivals.
The city has been recognised twice as an "ASEAN Clean Tourist City" in 2020 and 2022. It joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music on October 31, 2023.
Tu stressed that the development of green tourism will help the city to minimise the various environmental impacts, protect biodiversity, use renewable energy, promote natural and cultural heritage, and develop environmentally friendly tourism products moving forward.
