Red Cross Society launches Tet Gifts campaign for needy people

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) has launched a nationwide campaign to mobilise social resources to support at least 1.5 million disadvantaged people during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

The campaign “One Million Tet Gifts of Humanity” from December 22, 2025 to February 5, 2026, seeks to raise a minimum of VND5 billion in donations, working alongside the State to help people in difficult circumstances, including persons with disabilities, elderly individuals without family support, orphans, and those affected by natural disasters.

According to the Vietnam Red Cross Society, throughout 2025 many localities across the country were repeatedly hit by storms, floods, landslides, damaging or destroying thousands of homes. The disasters have severely affected livelihoods, particularly among poor and near-poor households and residents in remote and mountainous areas, as the Lunar New Year approaches.

The VRCS has called on government agencies, organisations, businesses, philanthropists and the public to join the campaign through financial contributions. With the collective efforts of the political system and the wider community, the campaign aims to help vulnerable people celebrate Tet in a warmer and safer environment, while strengthening confidence and motivation for disaster-affected communities to rebuild, stabilise their lives and move forward.

“One Million Tet Gifts of Humanity” is part of the annual Tet of Humanity Movement, organised by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and its network across 34 provinces and cities nationwide. The movement continuously innovates both material and emotional support methods, ensuring that people in difficult circumstances and vulnerable groups can enjoy the traditional Lunar New Year with dignity and joy.
