Quang Ninh sets up quarantine stations to prevent spread of African swine flu

The quarantine zones have been established at Cau Vang in Dong Trieu commune on 18A National Highway, Da Vach bridge in Dong Trieu commune on road 188, Tan Dan commune in Hoanh Bo district on National Highway 279, and the Bach Dang bridge toll station on the Hai Phong-Quang Ninh highway.

The quarantine points on Bach Dang bridge toll station will begin operation from 6:30 am on March 3 and will involve the participation of veterinary personnel, police forces, and a market management team. All vehicles transporting pigs through these stations will have to undergo examinations of their certificate of origin, quarantine certificate, or seals while disinfection measures are taken to prevent the spread of African swine flu in the province.

According to the Quang Ninh province Veterinary Branch, there have so far been no records of infected pigs being found at the quarantine stations.

Recently, neighbouring areas such as Hai Phong and Hai Duong have reported cases of the swine flu epidemic. Therefore, Quang Ninh province has requested that all quarantine stations operate around the clock to tighten control over vehicles which are transporting pigs and other pork products through the region as of March 3, 2019.

When violations are detected, veterinary agencies have been instructed to disinfect and cull the infected pigs in accordance with current regulations.
