Police bust two large international drug smuggling rings
VOV.VN -The police in the northern province of Hai Duong announced on November 27 that they have successfully smashed two large drug rings sending illicit substances into Vietnam via international air routes and through postal services.
In the first case, police forces arrested Pham Van Trung, 36, residing at 110C Dien Bien Phu street in Hai Duong for illegal drug trafficking.
The suspect was caught red-handed driving a car to a location on Dien Bien Phu street to get a package containing seven kilos of drugs which were then tested as MDMA or ecstasy.
Trung later confessed that the drugs had been sent from Germany by air.
The second case occurred on June 15 at the gate of a post office in Tan Dan ward of Chi Linh city. The police arrested Nguyen Van Tuan, 36, when he was transporting a cardboard beer box with nearly two kilos of ketamine hidden inside.
Tuan told the police that he was hired to transport the parcel sent from the UK by an unknown man.
A further investigation into the cases is now underway.
