Lao national arrested for smuggling 1,000 drug pills into Vietnam

VOV.VN - Border guards of Thanh Hoa province, central Vietnam, confirmed on November 13 that they had arrested a Lao national for transporting a huge quantity of synthetic drugs into Vietnam.

The drug trafficker was identified as Thao Nao Ly, born in 1969 and residing in Viengxay district of Houaphanh province.

At 7:15 a.m. on November 12 he was caught red handed trafficking the drugs in Keo Te village of Nhi Son commune of Muong Lat district.

The items confiscated at the scene include two kg of opium resin and 1,000 pills of synthetic drugs. The authorities also discovered him in possession of a knife which he used to resist arrest.

The case is under further investigation.
