Pfizer agrees to provide extra 20 million vaccine doses to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Pfizer/BioNTech, a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation, of the US, has pledged to provide Vietnam with an additional 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines under a contract signed with the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.
Pfizer agreed to deliver the vaccine by the end of 2021, Tien Phong newswire revealed on August 26, citing sources from Pfizer Vietnam.
Along with the previously contracted 31 million doses which are scheduled to arrive in the country in the third and fourth quarters, the newly-signed deal brings the total number of Pfizer vaccine doses to be supplied to Vietnam to 51 million.
Vietnam has so far received more than 23 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including over 1.2 million doses of Pfizer, 14 million doses of AstraZeneca, more than five million doses of Moderna, 12,000 doses of Sputnik-V, and 2.5 million doses of Sinopharm.
At present, Vietnam has vaccinated over 17.3 million people, with over 1.8 million receiving their second shot.
