Ninh Binh keen to connect with Armenia’s historical cities, heritage urban areas
VOV.VN - The northern province of Ninh Binh is keen to build co-operative ties with historical Armenian cities and heritage urban areas, Doan Minh Huan, secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said at a meeting held with visiting President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Alen Simonyan on November 18.
The Arminian leader is on an official visit to the country from November 17 to November 23 following an invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
The provincial leader also briefed his guest on Ninh Binh’s geographical location, natural conditions, and socio-economic development situation.
Ninh Binh represents a model that has been highly praised by UNESCO for its green, sustainable, and harmonious development, with this being based on the protection of natural resources coupled with the revival of cultural heritage.
Simultaneously, it seeks to promote harmony between people and nature, works to transform its cultural heritage into an important resource for developing cultural industries, tourism, and the heritage economy, all of which are key economic sectors of the province.
Moving forward, Ninh Binh aims to build a millennium-old heritage city and a creative city with its own unique identity; whilst also becoming a centre for cultural industries and creative economies worldwide to make the most of the soft power of culture, he added.
Highlighting that Ninh Binh is the first destination in his official visit to Vietnam, Armenian NA President Simonyan showed his positive impressions of the province's development potential, particularly in the fields of automobile manufacturing and tourism.
Armenia is an important partner of Vietnam and this relationship will continue to be enhanced, both at a national and a local level. Therefore, following this visit, his entourage will explore the possibility of developing a co-operation programme between Ninh Binh and Armenian localities.
On the occasion, the Armenian NA delegation toured many industrial and places of interest around the province.
