Armenia National Assembly leader to visit Vietnam next week
VOV.VN - The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, will make an official visit to Vietnam from November 17 to 23 at the invitation of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, according to a press communique from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
Vietnam and Armenia established diplomatic ties in 1992, and both countries carried out numerous activities to celebrate three decades of their diplomacy in 2022.
Despite geographical distance and distinct cultural and historical backgrounds, cooperative relations between Vietnam and Armenia have been progressing positively in recent years through regular high-level visit exchanges.
While the trade volume between Vietnam and Armenia remains modest, both countries are striving to boost economic cooperation, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, textiles, food processing, information technology, and food production.
Vietnam serves as a gateway for Armenia to access the ASEAN market, while Armenia can be a bridge for Vietnam to expand its relations with countries in the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The two countries are members of the United Nations and actively participate in the activities of international organizations, with a commitment to promoting peace, global security, and sustainable development. They also cooperate on global issues such as climate change, environmental protection, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The official visit to Vietnam by National Assembly President Alen Simonyan will be an important opportunity to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new level. Potential areas for cooperation include agriculture, food processing, education, and science and technology. Both countries have significant potential for trade and investment, particularly as their economies are expanding and becoming more integrated internationally.
