National park releases 36 rare wild animals back to the wild

Among the released animals were seven yellow monkeys, two assamese monkeys (Macaca assamensis), two stump-tailed macaques (Macaca arctoides), and three pig-tailed macaques (Macaca leonina). This is along with nine earth pythons, a palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus), four northern yellow-headed box turtles, an oldham’s leaf turtle (Cyclemys oldhamii), four keeled box turtles (Cuora mouhotii), and three pygmy lorises (Nycticebus pygmaeus).

According to details provided by the managing board of the national park, the rare wild animals underwent health check-ups before being released.

After being returned to the forest, the staff will continue to monitor them to ensure they successfully adapt to the local environment.

Vu Quang National Park, was designated an "ASEAN Heritage Park" in 2018. The park currently manages and safeguards 57,029.84 hectares of forests and forestry land.

So far, the park has released some 162 rare animals back into the wild.

It is also home to a wealth of endangered and rare species of plants and animals, documented in the IUCN Red List and the Vietnam Red Data Book.
