More than 240 Vietnamese citizens safely repatriated from Singapore

VOV.VN - More than 240 Vietnamese citizens stranded in Singapore due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have been safely repatriated as part of the joint efforts by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore in coordination with relevant agencies of Vietnam and the host country.

A Vietjet Air plane carrying the citizens touched down at Can Tho International Airport in southern Vietnam on October 26, with the majority of the passengers being minors under 18, people with underlying health issues, and other special cases.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore dispatched officials to assist the citizens with necessary procedures ahead of their departure.

Vietjet Air implemented epidemic prevention measures to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 during the journey.

Upon arrival at Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, all members of the flight crew and passengers underwent heath checkups and were immediately put in quarantine in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Vietnamese authorities and overseas missions are set to arrange more repatriation flights to bring home more Vietnamese citizens in the near future. The schedule of future flights is likely to depend on both the citizens’ demand and the quarantine capacity at home.
