More night flights in the pipeline in lead up to New Year holidays

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Transport has requested that Vietnamese airlines arrange more night flights to meet the increasing demand for passenger transportation in the coming New Year and lunar New Year holidays.

Accordingly, the ministry asked the airlines to increase the number of night flights on peak days before, during, and shortly after the holiday period that often sees a surge in the number of passengers returning to their hometown for the festive season and back to work again after the holidays.

It also instructed airline operators to work out control measures aimed at minimising flight delays and cancellations.

Major airports, particularly Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai international airports that are Vietnam’s busiest air hubs, were also asked to deploy more staff in order to ensure smooth luggage screening and delivery.

They were also requested to strengthen security measures and speed up the application of non-stop toll collection in a bid to avoid traffic congestion when travel demand picks up.

Every year tens of thousands of Vietnamese people choose to fly to their hometown for family reunion during the lunar New Year holiday, the national largest festival in the country, and return to work after the festival ends, causing an overload at airports.
