Mass grave of wartime soldiers found in central Vietnam
VOV.VN - A total of 32 sets of human remains found at a mass grave in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai have been confirmed as Vietnamese soldiers, according to local localities.
Workers discovered many bone fragments and items such as vases, ballpoint pens, lighters, and bullets believed to be personal belongings of wartime soldiers, during construction of a house by a local resident in Dak Po town of Dak Po district, they said.
On hearing about the news, the Provincial Military Command of Gia Lai immediately dispatched experts to the scene to examine the findings.
Based on initial analysis, experts said this was a mass grave of Vietnamese martyrs.
Local authorities requested that DNA tests be carried out on the remains to confirm the identification and the time of death.
The search is now being expanded.
